Marco Sanudo – The Conquest of Naxos and the Archipelago

Based in part on fact, this is the story of an adventurer, professional soldier, politician, diplomat and above all a visionary. Marco Sanudo, the Venetian who in the year 1207 captured the strategically important and fertile island of Naxos in the south eastern Aegean. Within a short time he controls many of the islands of the Cycladic archipelgo, creates a Dukedom for himself, and founds a dynasty that will influence the future of the islands for hundreds of years under his and successive Venetian houses.
